Caislean Oak is an exclusive engineered wood flooring collection manufactured by National Tile, Dundalk, Ireland. At the beginning, the collection included only nine colours and a few types of finish. Within the time and with rising interest from clients and architects, new colours, textures and accessories like silvers, pearl and gold had been added. Thanks to that, the collection gives endless possibilities to the designer.
The first logo and packaging was designed by a supplier. Because of the poor quality and style National Tile Management made the decision to change the logo and artwork of the box. The new logo is light and modern. We used three colours: white (light spectrum) that symbolizes the richness of the available colours and finish, black - clean blackboard for the design referring to the slogan - "Design your own unique floor". Black also elegance and prestige. Finally, red that symbolizes passion and love for design. I incorporated the letter C into the circle to represent a cross section of wood log.
After the logo, we designed the box for which the artwork had to be universal for three different sizes: 148, 189 and 240 mm wide. The next step was to take product picture for the marketing site and catalogue. Due to some limitations, the photoshoot was based on the close-ups with the usage of simple decorations. After that, a website and catalogue were designed. The catalogue from 2013 was in A4 landscape format, 4+8, with a glossy cover and silk inner pages, 2000 copies, printed in Ireland. Then in 2015 we designed a new one, which you can see here. As part of a project, a collection technical board 1000x2000mm was designed. The accessories were presented on the hand board. When in 2015 the offer was widened, the clients got a set of four boards (Original Beige, Original Grey, Precious & Vintage, Reaction). The promotion of the collection took place in the biggest and most popular magazines and local newspapers.
